A couple people have asked me about the story, especially the title. Well, that phrase “whorehouse piano” was really the seed of the whole story. I came across a band in NOLA who called themselves by the same name, and the phrase just stuck in my head. The story really grew out of that. Part of it is the nugget of meaning, the idea that if you’re playing piano in a whorehouse, nobody is probably listening too much. Kinda funny, kinda sad.

Lucy is one of my favorite characters. I hope she turns up again.
